Dilophosaurus - Banana English Strong Limited Release
What Is Dilophosaurus?
Dilophosaurus is a Banana English Strong Ale brewed with real banana and zero sour character. A limited taproom release from Urban Artifact's Dino line, available exclusively through our online store while supplies last.
7.7% ABV. 12 oz cans. Available in 6-packs.
What Does It Taste Like?
This one leads with the beer. A clean, full-bodied English Strong Ale with the weight and warmth the style demands - malt-forward, composed, and built for the kind of drinking that doesn't rush. The banana is real, and it's there. But it arrives the way good fruit in a serious beer should: as aroma first, then a brightness in the finish that sneaks up clean and disappears without overstaying.
If you were expecting Gadget, this isn't that. If you were expecting a banana candy beer, this isn't that either. It's a proper strong ale that happens to smell like the best banana you've ever had.
What Makes It Different?
Most fruit beers announce themselves immediately. Dilophosaurus takes its time. The English Strong Ale base is the point - structured, malt-driven, and substantial enough to carry the fruit without being defined by it. Real banana, handled with the same obsessive fruit standards Urban Artifact applies to every beer it makes, brought in as a supporting character rather than the headline act.
The result is a beer for the drinker who thinks they know what a fruit beer is. They don't. Not yet.
Who Is It For?
The craft beer drinker who wants complexity without challenge. The English ale fan curious enough to follow the banana note without committing to a fruit beer. The person at the birthday party who ordered something unexpected and finished it before anyone else did.
Dilophosaurus was brewed for Urban Artifact's 11th anniversary. It is not coming back. (It might come back. But don't count on it.)
Limited Release
This beer is available exclusively through the Urban Artifact online store. No retail. No distribution. When it's gone, it's gone.
About the Dino Line
Dilophosaurus is part of Urban Artifact's Dino line - a series of clean, non-sour fruit beers brewed with real ingredients and traditional yeast. Each release targets a distinct style, a distinct fruit, and a distinct drinker. The birthday releases push the line into territory the year-round beers don't go.
More dinosaurs are coming. Most of them will be easier to find than this one.
FAQ
Is Dilophosaurus a sour beer? No. It's a clean English Strong Ale with zero sour character. The banana character comes entirely from real fruit, not fermentation byproducts.
What's the ABV? 7.7%.
Is it brewed with real banana? Yes. Real banana, not extract or flavoring. The fruit is present as aroma and a clean brightness in the finish rather than a dominant flavor.
Why is it only available online? Dilophosaurus is a limited anniversary release. It was brewed in small quantity specifically for Urban Artifact's 11th birthday celebration. Online only, while supplies last.
Will it come back? Unclear. The Dino line birthday releases exist to show what the line is capable of beyond the year-round beers. Whether Dilophosaurus returns depends on how fast you make it disappear.

Shipping FAQ
How quickly will my Fruit Tarts ship, and how long will delivery take?
We usually ship orders within 1 business day. During releases, when a large amount of orders will come in, we try to get all orders out within 2 business days. Delivery largely depends on UPS, but generally no more than 3 days depending how far you are from Cincinnati.
Why didn’t I receive the Fruit Tarts and merch that I ordered?
We ship the alcohol and merch separately, sometimes one package will take a little while longer to arrive.
Something is missing from my order, can you please help?
Yes! Reach out directly to our team at orders@artifactbeer.com with your order number and a list of missing items, and we’ll send them to you right away. We try not to let this happen, but it occasionally does, especially when we are busy.
One of my cans/bottles is broken. What should I do?
Please send a picture of the broken item(s) along with your order number to orders@artifactbeer.com. Our team will send you a replacement right away.
What’s your return policy?
We do not accept returns of alcoholic beverages; all purchases are final. Fruit Tarts are perishable, so once you purchase it, it’s yours.
We do accept returns on select merch items. If you need to return or exchange a non-perishable merch item, please email orders@artifactbeer.com.
Why is shipping so expensive?
Our Fruit Tarts are liquid, so they can be really heavy! We don’t make any money from shipping prices—depending on your order size, we might actually lose money on shipping. We do aim to keep shipping costs as reasonable as we can, but they’re largely dependent on current UPS rates. The best way to get the most value is by reaching the free shipping tier for your zone (listed above).
KY has a higher tax rate than other states we ship to: KY has a 6% sales tax, but charge an additional 7.35% wholesale tax on beer and wine due to the bourbon lobby. As a result, we are legally required to charge a 13.35% tax. This is not something we can control and we apologize if this causes any frustration. Reach out to your state representatives and let them know you’d like that to change.
Why is my state not listed?
If you live in the following states, contact your congressional representative if you ever want our Fruit Tarts shipped to your door because your current laws will not allow it:
AK, AS, AL, AZ, AR, CA, CO, DE, FL, FM, GA, GU, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, LA, ME, MH, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NV, NJ, NM, NY, NC, MP, ND, OK, PW, PR, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VI, WA, WV, WI, WY
For a couple of states (most recently NE), the costs for us to maintain the retailers' license in the state exceeds our ability to ship direct out Fruit Tarts to your door step.Perhaps as we grow, or as the states change their rules, we'll be able to expand these options for you.
