The name
Say it out loud and you'll hear the joke. Chariot. Cherry it. We had a beer full of tart cherries and a weakness for fruit wordplay, and that was the whole naming meeting.
The beer
Chariot was one of our first fruited goses, from the years before we called anything a Fruit Tart. A batch took 1,500 pounds of tart cherries and 60 grams of vanilla beans. The cherries did the talking, and the vanilla rounded off the edges.
It's also one of the beers that carried us from one style to the next. As our brewing moved toward more fruit and less salt, Chariot moved with it, and the old gose was reworked into a Fruit Tart recipe. A lot of what we make now started with that change.
The label
Chariot went into cans for the first time in 2017, and that's when its driver first showed up: a Roman charioteer with the confidence of a man who has never once lost a race or doubted that he would win the next one. Around here he's known as the Roman Bro.
There was one variant, Vanilla Chariot, bottled in 2017 with extra vanilla beans.

Chariot is retired.
