Today, I want to introduce you to the person running that show: Hannah Kent, our Head Brewer.If I’m the one trying to figure out how to explain the beer to you, Hannah is the one actually doing the impossible work to squeeze every last minute out of every day to make these beers exist on the calendar.

Brewing at Urban Artifact isn’t like brewing at a standard lager house. When you are dealing with thousands of pounds of real fruit, high acidity, and live cultures, things get chaotic quickly. It requires an incredible amount of logistical planning and calm under pressure. |

Fortunately, Hannah spent time serving in the Air Force before she was wrangling fermenters and ingredient lists. She brings a level of precision and calm to a process that is, by nature, pretty wild. Whether she’s figuring out how to physically force 15 strawberries into a single can of Astronaut Food without blowing a valve, or ensuring that every single batch of Gadget tastes exactly the way it should, she handles the chaos with absolute focus.
Hannah isn't just the brains and brawn behind our daily operations; she is also the driving force behind many of our community efforts.March is a huge month for us because of International Women’s Day. Every year, Hannah takes the lead in organizing our IWD events and the annual beer collaboration. She designs the recipe, organizes the brew day to bring women from across the industry together, and physically leads the charge on the deck. The newest version will be released this Saturday at our IWD Market. The can features artwork from incredible local artist LD Nehls, and the Women's Day Market (Saturday 1p-5p) will have three dozen local women-owned crafts, makers, and businesses.
She uses her position not just to make incredible Fruit Tarts, but to actively build a stronger, more inclusive craft beer community in Cincinnati. Plus, she holds the scepter as our impeccable Fruit Queen at the faerie ball and other events.
