The name
A cabriole is a leap in ballet, the one where the dancer beats one leg against the other in midair. The label catches her at the top of it, arms up, with the ingredients scattering from her hand: a strawberry, a few berries, a bottle of maple syrup, and a stick of cinnamon on its way somewhere.
The beer
Cabriole was our holiday seasonal for 2024. No one really likes a fruitcake, and Cabriole was our way of making one anyway. The ingredient list is a fruitcake's, with cranberry, blueberry, strawberry and fig as the fruit and maple syrup, vanilla bean and a hint of cinnamon in the places where the candied peel and the spice tin usually go. The strawberry came through jammy, and the beer poured a reddish tan at 10 percent.
It ran for the 2024 holidays, and in the grand scheme of things it was a one-off.
[Cabriole is an ale brewed with real fruit and spice.]
